The Golf Kitchen Certification of Culinary Excellence is the only internationally recognized certification program for private golf and country club food and beverage teams. The certification is determined by the club’s ability to meet and exceed its member’s expectations in various avenues of the culinary arena. The culinary experience is often the most judged and most difficult to quantify of any department in a private club. The Golf Kitchen Certification of Culinary Excellence logo can be showcased on menus, websites, newsletters and annual meetings as a symbol of excellence. The certification can be used as to distinguish your club from the competition.

Highly-qualified private club culinary leaders visit and evaluate the member food and beverage experience. The entire culinary excellence certification is based on my 10 years of reviewing and visiting private golf and country club kitchens. The industry leading Golf Kitchen criteria is based on in-depth interviews with culinary team leaders in both the front and back of the house operations.

Our matrix allows us to add input on culinary education, industry experience at leading restaurants and also achievements within the private golf and country club industry.
Steps to Certification
01. Club nominated for certification
The private golf or country club will be nominated for certification by a member of our Advisory panel of elite private golf club managers and culinary professionals
02. Review of club’s submission for certification
The club’s culinary leadership team will complete the questionnaire about the current
operations which include:
03. Acknowledgement of application
The acknowledgement correspondence of nomination will be sent to the the culinary team, the General Manager and the Board of Directors/President
Golf Kitchen Certification professional is assigned
04. Scheduling of site visit to Club
Golf Kitchen’s certification professional introduced to the club’s on-site contact
Golf Kitchen certification introduction packet sent to the club
05. Golf Kitchen Certification dues
Golf Kitchen completed certification and listing on the Golf Kitchen website with other
certified clubs including the evaluation of up to three outlets.
06. Confirmation of the site visit with a schedule of time on the property
Golf Kitchen submits the schedule to be completed by the golf or country club
07. Site visit
Certification program completed according to schedule (see information packet)

- Cocktail programs
- ServeSafe certified
- Community service and charitable endeavors
- Environmental practices
- Leadership and mentoring programs supported
- Member, guest and team member satisfaction
- Tenure of executive chef and culinary leaders

05. Golf Kitchen Certification dues
Golf Kitchen completed certification and listing on the Golf Kitchen website with other
certified clubs including the evaluation of up to three outlets.
- Completed certification and site visit $3500
- Golf Kitchen one day evaluation includes up to three outlets
- Travel expenses are to be reimbursed to the certification professional directly from the club and certification professionals must submit their expenses to club contact for payment within 14 days
- Renewal for an additional 3 years
- Golf Kitchen certification renewal dues $1500 three years
- The club is sent the logo via email for use on social media, website, printed material and advertising materials
- The club is able to use logo on menus and club newsletters
- The club is listed on Golf Kitchen website and Golf Kitchen magazine each year
- The club is licensed to use the Golf Kitchen certification for 36 months
06. Confirmation of the site visit with a schedule of time on the property
Golf Kitchen submits the schedule to be completed by the golf or country club
- Planned arrival at club for club tour
- Interviews with culinary leaders
- Review and observation of each outlet back of house
- Review and observation of each outlet front of house
- Dining with General Manager, President, House Chairman or Board members
- End of day meeting to follow up and review
07. Site visit
Certification program completed according to schedule (see information packet)
08. Golf Kitchen Certification final report
- Letter to Culinary team, General Manager and Board of Directors/President informing of results
- Report sent verifying results within 30 days of site visit
- Licensing agreement sent and signed by club
- Plaques and other marketing materials ordered; i.e. pins or patches for team
09. Awarding of the Golf Kitchen certification
- Club is sent logo via email for use on social media, website, printed material and advertising materials
- Club is able to use logo on menus and club newsletters
- Club is listed on Golf Kitchen Certification website and Golf Kitchen magazine
- Club is licensed to use Golf Kitchen Certification for 36 months
