Maple Old Fashioned

Preparation Maple Simple Syrup Combine the maple syrup and water in a saucepan. Add the cloves, allspice, cardamom and sea salt. Boil until reduced by half. Let cool. Maple Old Fashioned Pour the whiskey, maple simple syrup and bitters into a mixing glass. Add the ice and stir until very cold, about 15 seconds. Strain into the glass over new ice. Garnish Using a peeler, make an orange twist about 2 inches long. Express the oils from the peel, rub and twist on the rim and put into the drink.
